Takaoka City Emergency Medical Center, located in Honmaru-cho, Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, is a community-based emergency medical facility established by Takaoka City and operated by the Takaoka City Medical Association since its founding in 1980. The center specializes in internal medicine and handles emergency patients during nights and holidays. Operating hours are weekdays from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following day, Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following day, and Sundays and holidays all day (9:00 AM to 6:00 AM the following day). Prior phone contact is recommended. For emergency and after-hours emergency transport, please consult the Fire Department. Pediatricians are on staff and can treat children under 15. However, surgical procedures and hospitalization facilities are not available, so severe cases are referred to cooperating medical institutions in the city. The center does not accept pregnant/postpartum women or patients with mental illness. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, influenza, or other infectious diseases, appropriate care can be provided by informing staff at the time of visit. The facility is barrier-free with 19 parking spaces. The waiting room is relatively spacious. Visitors are informed in advance that ambulance sirens may be audible. TV and free Wi-Fi are available. Health insurance card must be presented at the first visit. Various medical certificates and My Number verification documents are also accepted. Medical fees are cash only. At reception, your name, date of birth, symptoms, and contact information will be confirmed. If waiting times are long, you can be called via nurse call. Referrals to specialized medical institutions are also issued as needed. Given its role as an emergency center, mild to moderate cases are prioritized. For severe/emergency cases, general hospital emergency departments or ambulances are appropriate. For phone consultations, the Emergency Peace of Mind Center (#7119) for nights/holidays and the Children's Medical Phone Consultation (#8000) for children under 15 are recommended. Visitors are urged to call 119 without hesitation in emergencies. The center steadily plays a vital role in the regional emergency medical system.
