Located in Minobu-cho, Minamikoma-gun, Yamanashi Prefecture, Iitomi Hospital is a community-based hospital that started in August 1954 with internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and obstetrics/gynecology departments and 30 beds. Today, it offers a wide range of departments including internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, psychosomatic medicine, dermatology, rehabilitation, and radiology. Many physicians dispatched from Yamanashi University are also on staff, creating a system to meet the comprehensive medical needs of the region. A notable feature of this hospital is its home-visit medical care and house calls to underserved areas, which has continued since its founding. Records remain of doctors who, during a typhoon in 1982 when roads were cut off, traversed collapsed roads to reach patients—demonstrating a history of protecting community health under any circumstances. Currently, the hospital operates on a complete reservation system, and first-time patients are also seen by appointment only. Outpatient hours are from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the morning and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM in the afternoon. In terms of facilities, the hospital accepts various payment methods including credit cards, debit cards, and electronic payments. Parking is available, and barrier-free facilities are in place. The hospital also operates a shuttle vehicle, creating an environment that is easy to use even for those with limited transportation options.
